Do You Want a Reliable Air Conditioner This Summer?

woman looking warm in front of fanOur temperatures may be fickle this time of year, but if last week was any indication, spring has sprung and summer is well on its way. Soon enough, you’ll be starting up your air conditioner and relying on it to keep you cool, daily. But can you really depend on your Oklahoma City, OK air conditioner to work as efficiently as you need it to, without breaking down? You can, if you follow the tips below:

Schedule Routine Maintenance

There are some maintenance tasks that you can do on your own. You should be sure to change your air filter, for instance. Many homeowners mistakenly assume that the air filter which comes standard with their cooling system is there to protect their indoor air quality. But it’s actually there to protect the inside components of the air conditioner from being damaged by particles.

Your air filter should be changed every 1-3 months during periods of system use. This is also dependent on the type of air filter you have and the manufacturer’s recommendations. If you’re unsure of how often you should be changing yours, give us a call! And, be sure to schedule professional AC maintenance. This allows our technicians to do a thorough inspection and cleaning, as well as make any adjustments to your system there may be.

Upgrade Your Thermostat

Did your thermostat struggle to work correctly over the winter? Did you find that the temperatures seemed off? Maybe you thought it was a heating system problem, but it might have been your thermostat. If you’re still using a manual thermostat, then it’s definitely time to consider an upgrade.

There are a number of thermostat options on the market today. Even a switch to a standard digital thermostat will benefit you. If you want to take that a step further, you might consider a programmable thermostat, or even a smart thermostat—the latter of which learns your cooling preferences and adjusts automatically to achieve them.

These are just a couple ways to help keep your AC system reliable—reach out to our team for more tips. At Comfort Incorporated, we keep your family safe, healthy and comfortable–call today, service today!
